The Eastern District of Pennsylvania consists of nine counties: Philadelphia, Bucks, Delaware, Berks, Chester, Lancaster, Lehigh, Montgomery, and Northampton. The main office is located in the William J. Green, Jr. Federal Building in Philadelphia; satellite offices are located in Reading and Allentown.
Our primary functions are:
1) Preparing presentence investigation reports for the federal judiciary, which are also used by the U.S. Bureau of Prisons for designation and classification purposes;
2) Lending technical assistance at sentencing hearings; and
3) Providing community supervision of convicted offenders to ensure compliance with the conditions of supervision imposed at sentencing, facilitating treatment, and protecting the community from risks, both physical and financial, as well as many other significant contributions to the community.
